Brief history of WEAVE
Women's Education for Advancement and Empowerment (WEAVE) is an independent, non- Political, Non- profit, non-partisan and non-governmental women led legal resource organization working in CHT of Bangladesh. It was established in 2005 by a group of Chittagong Hill Tracts Grass roots Women, and is dedicated to improvement, advancement and empowerment of women, their dignity, uplifting of their socio-legal status, protection of child rights, and facilitating educational opportunities for girls and women. WEAVE promotes the full participation of local women in the movement for their genuine liberation and in the overall transformation of a just and free society. We respond to specific needs of women from different sectors in collaboration with institutions, community, and volunteer groups concerned with programs for women's development. Organization believes that women participation at various levels is one of the prime conditions for good governance in the society. The condition of CHT women needs to improve for ensuring good governance in the region, therefore, WEAVE as a Women organization has intended to launch this capacity Building project For CHT Women.
Our Vision
WEAVE strives towards a progressive and peaceful CHT with high literacy rate and good governance that is free of discrimination- Equal Rights for Men and Women.
Mission
To contribute to a progressive CHT places through providing capacity building, peace building, gender, advocacy and income generation services to the people with special focus on women.
Goal
To create a society free from poverty where marginalized people, especially women and children enjoy better br quality of life through social empowerment in a gender neutral and violence free environment.
About the Executive Director
Executive Director, WEAVE & Member, Rangamati Hill District Council
Naie U Prue Marma (Mary) is a pioneering women's rights advocate and development specialist with over 20 years of experience in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT). As the Founder and Executive Director of Women's Education for Advancement and Empowerment (WEAVE), she has led transformative initiatives in quality education, climate change resilience, and peacebuilding. Spearheaded the first production of reusable sanitary napkins made from banana fiber in Bangladesh.

Currently serves as a Member of the Rangamati Hill District Council (Interim Government), overseeing the Department of Agricultural Extension.

Represented the CHT at major international forums, including the United Nations Permanent Forum (New York) and CSW67.

Accomplished consultant and researcher for international organizations like AIDA and TARANGO, with specialized training in eco-tourism and climate justice.

B.S.S. in Sociology, National University. With a career spanning grassroots activism and international policy, Ms. Marma remains a central figure in empowering indigenous communities and advancing gender equality in Bangladesh.
